Think for a moment of a rescue. What comes to mind? Firemen heroically running into a fire, police officers shielding others, our service men and women fighting for us fearlessly , or an overworked ER doctor saving a life? Yes, they are all amazing rescues for sure! But there is One Who is “The Rescuer”! He saved us from our sins and He saves us from ourselves. He is our defender, protector and strong tower! He fights for us, and is always reaching toward us. He is the hero who does not only save our lives but gives us eternal life. His name is Jesus and He died for each of us. The only Hero Who hung on a cross in our place.
Life has some harrowing moments. There are trials that we all face. But in the day-to-day of good and bad, He is always there reaching toward us ready to pull us up out of the mire, dust us off, heal our pain and help us to start again! And He does this over and over and over again.
Because of Him, you’re not defenseless; because of Him, you are not hopeless; and because of Him, you are loved! He is your rescue! You are not hidden from Him and there is no distance or length that He has not gone or will not go to save you!
